NSTDA and Nano Association Launch ‘NanoThailand2025’ to Revolutionize Technology

Bangkok: The National Science and Technology Development Agency (NSTDA), in collaboration with the National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC) and the Thai Nanotechnology Association, has announced the upcoming ‘The 2025 International Conference on Nanotechnology (NanoThailand2025).’ The event, set to take place from November 3-5, will be held under the theme ‘Revolutionizing the Future’ and will serve as a platform for exchanging knowledge on nanotechnology in Thailand and worldwide. The conference will showcase notable nanotechnology innovations, including high-omega eggs, black ginger extract, test kits for Thais, industrial water management systems, Pilvacen Gold, and Parnica Cream, alongside commercial research successes from two private companies.

According to Thai News Agency, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Siriruk Songsivilai, Chairman of the National Science, Technology and Innovation Policy Committee (NSTDA) and Executive Board Chairman of the National Nanotechnology Center, delivered a keynote address emphasizing nanotechnology’s transformative potential. He highlighted that nanotechnology is not merely an advancement in science and technology but a tool capable of altering various aspects of life, economy, society, and the environment. This technology is seen as crucial for propelling Thailand towards becoming a sustainable and competitive developed nation on a global scale. Dr. Songsivilai noted that nanotechnology aligns with Thailand’s Bio-Circular-Green (BCG) economic policy, offering benefits for public health, environmental sustainability, and enhancing the grassroots economy.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Surin Laosuksathit, President of the Nanotechnology Association of Thailand, stated that the biennial international nanotechnology conference and exhibition aims to stimulate the advancement of nanotechnology within the country. It also seeks to create networks, facilitate knowledge exchange between Thai researchers and international scientists, and foster cooperation across government, private sectors, and civil society. The event is designed to inspire emerging researchers and students with an interest in nanotechnology.

Dr. Uracha Raktanonchai, Director of the National Nanotechnology Center (NANOTEC) at NSTDA and chairperson of NanoThailand2025, highlighted the opportunity for participants to engage with leading researchers globally. A notable plenary speaker is Prof. Michiya Matsusaki from Osaka University, known for his research in biomaterials and biomedical engineering, including the development of 3D-bioprinting techniques for cultured Wagyu beef. The conference will feature 12 sub-conference topics, 70 invited speakers from 20 countries, and 200 research presentations, both oral and poster formats, along with presentations from nanotechnology startups and activities focused on bridging innovation and commercialization.

Dr. Uracha announced the introduction of the Thailand Nanotechnology Awards, which will recognize outstanding contributions in the field. Categories include the Young Nanotechnologist Award for researchers under 40, the Nanotechnology Start-up Award, and the Nanotechnology Hall of Fame for impactful contributions to the economy and society.
