Bangkok: The Office of the Basic Education Commission (OBEC) has expressed confidence that 118 districts will successfully rent and utilize technology equipment for students and teachers, while also preparing for potential flooding due to Tropical Storm Rakasa.
According to Thai News Agency, Acting Sub-Lieutenant Thanu Wongchinda, Secretary-General of OBEC, chaired the 35th/2025 OBEC Executive Meeting to discuss the progress of various initiatives. Emphasizing the Ministry of Education and OBEC policy directives, the meeting aimed to ensure the swift implementation of ongoing operations. The meeting was attended by key OBEC officials, including Deputy Secretary-Generals Mr. Pattana Pattanathaveedol and Mr. Theer Phawangkanan, Assistant Secretary-General Mr. Phuthon Chantahong Punyajarathamrong, and other relevant personnel, both in person and via Zoom.
Acting Sub-Lieutenant Thanu highlighted the “Anywhere Anytime” project, focusing on the rental of teaching equipment to ease burdens on teachers and enhance educational quality. This initiative aligns with the policy of Prof. Dr. Narumon Pinyosinwat, Minister of Education, and emphasizes the importance of reducing inequalities in education. All 118 districts have committed to operating within the scheduled timeframe, ensuring that students and teachers have access to modern technology.
The meeting also addressed the need to utilize the investment budget within the current fiscal year. Thanks to intensive monitoring, the budget at risk of being unspent has significantly decreased, demonstrating effective oversight and planning for future fiscal years.
Lastly, the meeting underscored the necessity of preparing for Tropical Storm Rakasa. Schools have been instructed to implement prevention plans, prioritize safety, and prepare for potential closures if necessary. The government’s approval of a central budget for repairs will support schools in resuming normal operations post-storm.
