The 29th National Book Fair was hot for the first 3 days, attracting the attention of readers, with over 300,000 people attending, having the chance to rub shoulders with famous writers from both Thailand and abroad.
‘Jiu Lu Fei Xiang’, the number one romantic novelist of the Chinese fairy world, flew to launch the book ‘Teacher, Please Give Me Guidance’ for the first time, along with special items only available at the event. ‘Mikito Chinen’, the mystery book god, and ‘Kim Ho Yeon’, the author of ‘Khun Tok Go’s Convenience Store’, took the stage to share their experiences and methods for thinking up interesting plots, which received no less attention, along with signing autographs.
Mr. Suwich Rungwattanapaiboon, President of the Publishers and Booksellers Association of Thailand (PUBAT), revealed that the 29th National Book Fair, which was supported by the Department of Cultural Promotion, and the work of the Subcommittee for Promoting the Book Industry under THACCA, jointly organized the event, has receiv
ed a lot of attention from the public. After only 3 days of the event, there were more than 300,000 Thai and international readers, as well as interested people, attending the event out of the total 11 days, or from October 10-20, 2024, at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center, which was lively, clearly proving that the reading culture and the Thai book market have a tendency to grow for a long time.
‘The book fair welcomed a large number of readers and interested people to join the event, especially during this long holiday. We have prepared over 100 activities and exhibitions for attendees to enjoy. Publishers are offering a variety of promotions, including discounts, exchanges, freebies, and launching many secret items. We have also received interest from famous international writers who are well-known by Thais and are hard to find at other events to launch their books and meet readers, making the event even more interesting,’ said Mr. Suwich.

‘Mikito Chinen,’ a famous Japanese detective writer reflecting East Asian society, whose works are known to Thai readers, such as The Thousand Crane Murder Case and The Glass Tower Murder Case, said that he was very excited and honored to join the book fair and meet Thai readers, who were warmly welcomed. At the event, he shared his e
xperiences and journey from doctor to writer, including the inspiration for creating the story plot.

Jackson’, the author of ‘Capitalism Magic Thailand’, Deva Mantra, Spells, Keji: Modern Magic and Capitalism (Thai) and ‘Rathi Kumala’, the author of ‘Cigarette Girl’, which was selected to be filmed as a series on a famous online platform, to share their experiences, inspirations, and ideas for writing books, along with signing autographs for Thai readers, which received overwhelming interest.
