Phetchabun: A pad thai vendor was extremely upset after a middle-aged woman on a motorcycle came in and stole chili powder and granulated sugar in packets.
According to Thai News Agency, a Facebook user posted a warning to the public in Phetchabun about a theft in front of a Pad Thai shop. CCTV footage shows a middle-aged woman wearing a dark gray short-sleeved shirt, black shorts, socks, and sandals, with her hair tied back. She rides her motorcycle about 10 meters past the Pad Thai shop, then parks and walks back to the shop, which is still closed. She steals a bag of items from the shop before quickly getting on a parked motorcycle and fleeing the scene. The incident occurred yesterday morning. Since the clip was posted, it has been widely shared and commented, including, “The face is so clear, it shouldn’t be hard to catch her,” and “Probably someone from around there.”
Reporters traveled to the famous Pad Thai restaurant in Phetchabun Province, located on Burakarmkowit Road in Nai Mueang Subdistrict, Mueang Phetchabun District. The owner revealed that she usually orders items such as noodles, chili powder and sugar packets, and bean sprouts from her regular vendor, who delivers them early in the morning and leaves them in front of the shop since the restaurant is not yet open. Yesterday, she ordered a large package of chili powder and sugar and two bags of Pad Thai noodles. The next morning, upon opening, she found only two bags of Pad Thai noodles, with no chili powder or sugar. She suspected the vendor had missed the order and called the vendor, who confirmed it had been delivered. CCTV footage showed a middle-aged woman stealing the items. She wonders why she stole only the chili powder and sugar, which were worth only 230 baht. She also believes she might have stolen the items, possibly to resell them. She wants to warn vendors that even chili powder and sugar are being
stolen these days.
