Bueng kan: Border Patrol Police seized more than 2.5 million methamphetamine pills while they were being smuggled into Bueng Kan. The operation led to the confiscation of seven sacks of methamphetamine pills, tied to the Nang Wiang network. Investigations revealed that the drugs, destined for Saraburi Province, were left abandoned on the side of the road, likely due to pressure from law enforcement.
According to Thai News Agency, Border Patrol Police 244 discovered the seven sacks of methamphetamine pills late last night along a roadside in Kai Si Village, Kai Si Subdistrict, Mueang Bueng Kan District. The discovery followed a tip-off from the Surasakmontri Task Force regarding potential drug smuggling from a neighboring country. A patrol was conducted in the designated area, where the police found seven suspicious black sacks. Despite overnight surveillance, no drug trafficking activity was detected, prompting the police to seize the drugs. Upon examination, they found over 2.5 million methamphetamine pills.
Subsequent investigations at a press conference revealed that the seized drugs belonged to a network run by Ms. Wiang, a Laotian national. The plan was to transport the drugs into central Thailand, particularly targeting Saraburi Province, with Bueng Kan Province serving as a transit point. Authorities have since coordinated with relevant agencies to enhance border patrols and intercept similar smuggling attempts. Had the drugs reached the market, they could have been valued at approximately 77 million baht.
