Paethongtarn Declines to Address Thai Literature Concerns with UNESCO

Bangkok: Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister and Minister of Culture, attended a Cabinet meeting today, but refrained from addressing questions regarding the registration of Thai literature by Cambodia with UNESCO. When approached by the media for comments on the issue, Ms. Paethongtarn chose not to respond and proceeded directly to Building 1 to participate in the meeting.

According to Thai News Agency, the inquiry arose after reports emerged that Cambodia had taken steps to register several pieces of Thai literature on UNESCO’s list of intangible cultural heritage. This development has sparked conversations and concerns among Thai cultural advocates, bringing into question the implications for Thailand’s cultural legacy. Despite the rising interest and potential diplomatic nuances, Ms. Paethongtarn remained silent on the matter during her appearance at the Cabinet meeting.
