Bangkok: The Cabinet Secretary has indicated that she is not currently aware of the history of Jakrapob Penkair, amidst reports suggesting that he may be appointed as the new government spokesperson. The position, which holds a political status equivalent to that of a minister, necessitates a thorough review of the candidate’s background.
According to Thai News Agency, Mrs. Natjaree Anantasilpa, Secretary-General to the Cabinet, addressed the matter regarding Jakrapob Penkair, a former spokesperson for the Prime Minister’s Office. There is speculation that he might replace Mr. Jirayu Huangsap, the current spokesperson. Mrs. Natjaree stated that no documentation concerning Jakrapob’s history has been presented to her at this time.
Regarding the scrutiny required for such political positions, Mrs. Natjaree mentioned that the background checks should align with the Political Official Regulations Act, as these positions are considered equivalent to ministerial roles.
When questioned about the potential impact of Jakrapob’s past on his candidacy, Mrs. Natjaree responded concisely, stating, “I’ve looked at everything.”
