Bangkok: Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister and Minister of Culture, has refrained from addressing speculation about her potential resignation, opting instead to greet the press with a simple, “I miss you.” This occurred following her participation in a religious ceremony at Sanam Luang, where she and her spouse joined a Buddhist chanting event and offered alms to monks in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother’s birthday on August 12, 2025.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paethongtarn’s brief interaction with the media took place as reporters inquired about the rumors surrounding her resignation ahead of the Constitutional Court’s forthcoming decision. The case in question involves an audio clip of her conversation with Samdech Hun Sen, the President of the Cambodian Senate. Despite the pressing nature of the questions, Ms. Paethongtarn chose not to provide any answers, maintaining her silence with a smile.
The media persisted, seeking clarity on whether her resignation was imminent or if she planned to remain in her position. However, Ms. Paethongtarn did not provide any further comments and promptly departed the scene by getting into her car.
