Paethongtarn Vows Pheu Thai’s Strong Fight in Sisaket By-Election

Bangkok: Paethongtarn insists on fighting hard in the Sisaket by-election. Wisut asks the people to prove they are truly in the opposition and is ready to work with them.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, former Prime Minister and leader of the Pheu Thai Party, arrived at the party headquarters at 9:57 a.m. When reporters inquired about the date she would be campaigning in the Sisaket by-election, Ms. Paethongtarn stated that she would have Ms. Manoporn Charoensri, former Deputy Minister of Transport and a core leader of the Pheu Thai Party, call to inform her.

As for the situation assessment, Ms. Paethongtarn briefly stated that she was fighting with all her might before immediately going up to her office.

Wisut Chainarun, a party-list MP and chairman of the Pheu Thai Party, addressed Pheu Thai’s declaration of independence as the opposition party. He stated that many MPs questioned the Prachachon Party’s performance, questioning its genuine opposition status. This question was not related to the Prachachon Party’s vote for Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul or the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the party, but rather its behavior and actions over the past two weeks, in which the party has not been able to prove that it is truly acting as an opposition party. He also questioned whether the Pheu Thai Party would join the no-confidence motion submitted under Section 151, whether it would debate in opposition or defend it. He also questioned whether the Prachachon Party would submit a no-confidence motion itself, stating that he would be the first to submit the motion, and that the Pheu Thai Party would participate. However, the Prachachon Party must first prove its commitment to the opposition, and if so,
it stands ready to work as a strong, united opposition party.

As for the Pheu Thai Party’s activities today, core leaders have been gradually entering the party headquarters since morning to prepare for the weekly meeting. At 1:00 PM, there will be a meeting of regional MPs, and at 3:00 PM, there will be a meeting of Pheu Thai Party MPs.
