Bangkok: Mr. Parit Wacharasindhu, a party-list MP and spokesperson for the People’s Party, emphasized the need for Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul to coordinate a unified strategy to address the Thai-Cambodian conflict. He highlighted that the issue extends beyond mere security concerns.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Wacharasindhu expressed his views as an opposition member, stating that security threats require collaborative efforts from all parties and organizations. He underscored that response measures, including providing relief to affected Thais, must be integrated with military, diplomatic, and economic security measures. As Prime Minister and head of the executive branch, Mr. Anutin is tasked with establishing an overarching strategy to define the country’s primary goals and direction, protecting the interests of the people. The military is expected to handle security, while the Ministry of Foreign Affairs should manage diplomatic efforts. Thus, it is crucial for Mr. Anutin to coordinate all agencies to ensure unity and mutual trust under a common strategy.
Addressing concerns about granting the military extensive powers, Mr. Panusaya noted that the Prime Minister’s pivotal role is to coordinate all parties and define an overall strategy. He pointed out that addressing security threats is not solely a military endeavor; it must also incorporate diplomatic, economic, and informational measures.
