Bangkok: Santi Promphat, Secretary-General of the Palang Pracharath Party, has announced that the party has secured four ministerial positions, comprising two ministerial and two deputy ministerial posts. However, it remains uncertain whether General Prawit Wongsuwan, commonly referred to as “Uncle Pom,” will accept any of these positions, as the party has not yet discussed individual appointments.
According to Thai News Agency, Santi disclosed that the Bhumjaithai Party has also been allocated four positions, split between two ministers and two deputy ministers. While initial discussions are ongoing, he anticipates that the situation will be resolved within the next couple of days. Santi confirmed that the Ministry of Defense will stay with the Palang Pracharath Party, signifying the importance of thoroughly deliberating over any significant ministerial assignments.
Addressing speculation about his potential appointment as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Health, Santi advised patience, asserting that there are no internal conflicts within the party, which remains united. He further stated that a four-month deadline is a conditional requirement, urging all ministers to actively address public issues, particularly the economic struggles affecting farmers. The aim is to resolve grassroots issues to stimulate economic activity and development.
Nipit Bunyamanee, another key figure, revealed his meeting with Anutin Charnvirakul, noting discussions about cabinet roles within the Democrat Party. While he refrained from revealing the number of ministerial posts, citing the Prime Minister’s discretion, he assured that the process is progressing smoothly. Nipit emphasized that any voting in parliament is a constitutional privilege of MPs, underscoring the need for internal party discussions to address various issues recognized by multiple parties.
