Dr. Sa
kchai Tapsuwan, President of IFMA, said that it is a great pleasure for the Muay Thai sports industry, as Thailand is truly considered the mother country to host the 72nd Anniversary Muay Thai Championship for Youth Amateurs in 2024 at Paragon Hall, Siam Paragon, where young Muay Thai boxers from over 100 countries around the world will compete. Everyone highly praises Thailand’s hosting standards, including accommodation, food, competition venues, transportation, security measures, athlete rooms, spectators, and spectacular lighting and sound systems. Importantly, all the Muay Thai boxers who compete are children and youths, so they must have their parents and families travel to Thailand with them. This makes the event the most concrete and clear answer to the issue of generating income for the country through Muay Thai. Another important thing is that after the competition, the Muay Thai boxing families plan to visit important places in Thailand before returning, which will greatly stimulate the tourism sec
tor of Thailand.
Dr. Sakchai continued that in order to further develop the development of young Muay Thai boxers from around the world to have a stage to develop their skills, he has collaborated with the Ambassador Hotel, Sukhumvit 11, to renovate the 5th floor of the hotel into a boxing competition ring for boxers aged 14-15 years old. The competition will be held every week and there will be scholarships for the athletes. He will discuss with the Boxing Commission of the Sports Authority of Thailand (SAT) to proceed as soon as possible. In addition, IFMA also has a plan to organize a Muay Thai club competition (Club) representing various countries at the international level, which will have prize money for the winning teams as well.
