Pee Saderd’s Battle with Rare Male Breast Cancer: A 20-Year Journey

Bangkok: Pee Saderd, the renowned singer of the popular song “Ji Hoi,” has disclosed a long-fought battle with breast cancer, which he has been enduring for nearly two decades. The revelation sheds light on the rare occurrence of breast cancer in men and highlights his personal journey of resilience and lifestyle change.

According to Thai News Agency, Pee Saderd, a 46-year-old country music icon, has been privately battling breast cancer for almost 20 years, keeping the diagnosis hidden to prevent causing worry to his family. Initially, he experienced chest pains and discovered a lime-sized lump, attributing it to his hectic lifestyle and inconsistent health habits. Regular medical checkups every six months eventually led to the diagnosis of breast cancer, a condition that is notably rare among men, with chances as low as one in a million or even one in ten million. Pee Saderd’s fear prompted him to seek solace in Dharma, adopting a healthier lifestyle by consuming nutritious foods, quitting smoking, and abstaining from alcohol. These changes have resulted in significant improvements in his cancer markers, progressively reducing to the point where his cancer is now undetectable.

Dr. Thanet Kaensarn from the Department of Family Medicine at Ramathibodi Hospital, Mahidol University, explained that male breast cancer often stems from genetic factors, such as having relatives with breast or ovarian cancer, or issues with the testicles affecting hormone production. The condition typically presents as a palpable lump, although men generally do not detect lumps unless they maintain muscle mass through exercise. Any lump, especially accompanied by fluid or blood discharge from the nipple, should prompt immediate medical consultation, as these symptoms are considered abnormal and warrant further investigation.
