People should remain alert of COVID-19, follow exodus requirement: KSP

The Presidential Staff Office (KSP) appealed to the community to remain alert to COVID-19 symptoms and comply with the vaccination requirement while traveling for the 2022 Eid homecoming exodus.

The appeal was made by Main Expert of the KSP, Abraham Wirotomo, in a press release here on Friday following the government’s decision to ease restrictions on people’s mobility and the Eid exodus.

“We appeal to the community to maintain health if they want to join the exodus. People are expected to be more alert if they are experiencing symptoms of cough, runny nose, fever, and sore throat,” he noted.

Wirotomo explained that following scientific studies, the government had taken the decision to ease restrictions on people’s mobility and allow the public to join the 2022 homecoming exodus.

The decision was taken by considering several indicators in the control of the COVID-19 pandemic that showed the pandemic situation in Indonesia had been brought under greater control and the number of cases was declining, he expounded.

“As of April 2, 2022, the reproduction rate was recorded at 1,” he pointed out.

Meanwhile, the number of daily cases stood at 3,671, and the hospital bed occupancy rate was only eight percent, he added.

According to Wirotomo, those indicators have shown an improvement in Indonesia’s pandemic situation.

In addition, the policy to ease restrictions on people’s mobility and the Eid exodus was taken to respond to the community’s enthusiasm to join the 2022 Eid al-Fitr homecoming exodus.

The KSP Main Expert revealed that based on the three surveys conducted by the Ministry of Transportation, the number of people planning to join the exodus had continued to increase.

“The first survey on February 14-28, 2022, showed that 55 million people would join the exodus. The second survey on March 9-21, 2022, showed that 79.4 million would join the exodus. The third survey on March 22-31, 2022, showed an increase, which is 85.5 million people,” he expounded.
