Phang Nga Man Arrested for Knife Attack on Phuket Police Sergeant.

Phuket: A young man from Phang Nga was arrested after a violent incident at the Tha Chat Chai Police Station in Phuket Province. The man, identified as Mr. Shuaib, aged 48, attacked a police sergeant with a knife, injuring him. The motive for the attack was stress related to his arrest, and he has been charged with attempted murder of an officer.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Shuaib stormed into the police station, kicking the door and stabbing the investigating officer, Pol. Lt. Col. Akkaraphon Siwilaipong, who was on duty in the complaint room. The officer sustained injuries above his left eyebrow and on his left arm, each requiring four stitches. He was treated at Bangkok Siriroj Hospital and has since been discharged in stable condition.

After the attack, Mr. Shuaib attempted to flee the scene but was involved in an accident at a roundabout, leading to his capture while he was hospitalized. He is currently under custody at Phang Nga Hospital and is expected to face prosecution once released. The po
lice have pressed serious charges against him, including attempted murder of an officer while on duty and causing damage to property.

Pol. Lt. Gen. Surapong Thanomchit, Commander of Provincial Police Region 8, has taken a personal interest in the case, instructing Pol. Maj. Gen. Sinlert Sukhum, Commander of Phuket Provincial Police, to oversee the investigation. He also visited Pol. Lt. Col. Akkarapol to offer support. In response to the incident, all police stations have been directed to enhance safety measures to prevent future occurrences.
