Phao Bhum Orders Rent Waiver for Royal Properties in Flood-Affected Regions

Chiang rai: Dr. Paopum Rojanasakul, Deputy Minister of Finance, visited the flood-affected provinces of Chiang Rai and Phayao to address the damage caused by the storm ‘Wipha’. The storm has severely impacted six provinces in the north, namely Nan, Chiang Rai, Phayao, Lampang, Chiang Mai, and Loei, leading to significant issues in housing and farmland.

According to Thai News Agency, the Ministry of Finance, through the Treasury Department, has implemented measures to aid tenants of state property who have been affected by the floods. This initiative aims to alleviate the difficulties faced by people renting state properties of various types, including residential, agricultural, and commercial properties.

For tenants of Crown Property land used for residential purposes, the rent will be waived for one year if there is partial damage to their homes. In cases where the entire house is damaged, the rent waiver will extend to two years.

For those using Crown Property for agricultural purposes, a one-year rent exemption is offered if crops or produce have been damaged.

Moreover, tenants of government buildings and those renting land for other benefits will have their monthly rent exempted if they cannot conduct their business as intended due to the floods.

Affected tenants are advised to contact the Treasury Office in their respective provinces to apply for assistance under the announced measures.
