Pheu Thai Party Calls for Unity Amidst Tense Thai-Cambodian Border Situation

Bangkok: The Pheu Thai Party has urged all political entities to exercise caution in their expressions to prevent political conflicts during a rally organized by the United Front for the Protection of Sovereignty group. The rally focused on basic rights, and the party emphasized the importance of avoiding actions that could worsen the current delicate situation.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Khattiya Sawatdiphon, a list MP and deputy spokesperson for the Pheu Thai Party, addressed the rally organized by the Ruam Palang Phaendin Phang Athipatai group. She reaffirmed the party’s commitment to defending the right to freedom of expression and peaceful assembly as fundamental democratic rights. However, she highlighted the need for Thai society to focus on cooperation, understanding, and unity, especially given the tense situation along the Thai-Cambodian border.

Ms. Khattiya stated that while the Pheu Thai Party, as the core government, is open to listening to the voices of its citizens, it is crucial that all actions are guided by public responsibility. She cautioned against any political expression that might exacerbate or escalate social conflicts during this fragile period, emphasizing the country’s need for maximum cooperation from all sectors.
