Pheu Thai Reiterates Commitment to 20-Baht Electric Train Fare Policy

Bangkok: Pheu Thai Party reiterates its policy of 20 baht flat-rate electric train fares, aiming to reduce people’s expenses, slams the People’s Party for distorting the truth, accusing it of favoring capital, hoping to discredit politics, even though it had campaigned to reduce electric train fares and did the same thing.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Danupon Punnakan, MP for the party list and spokesman for the Pheu Thai Party, emphasized that the 20-baht flat-rate electric train policy is crucial for reducing the financial burden on the public. The policy aims to create opportunities in various dimensions for the people, a point the Pheu Thai Party has consistently communicated throughout its campaign.

Mr. Danupon criticized the People’s Party for using the policy as a political attack, despite having campaigned on a similar platform to reduce electric train fares through subsidizing the difference for private service providers. He reiterated that the policy’s direct benefits to the public should not be overlooked.

The Pheu Thai Party spokesman further highlighted that the policy not only aids in reducing personal expenses but also encourages a decrease in private car usage. This shift is expected to alleviate traffic congestion and lower air pollution levels. Additionally, the policy supports broader urban distribution, contributing to a more balanced city development.
