Bangkok: The Pheu Thai Party has launched a four-month campaign aimed at resolving what it identifies as four disaster cases, while critically analyzing government policies and criticizing key figures from Buriram and the Prasat Sai Fah ministers. The party expressed concerns that the Senate and Khao Kradong collusion case might be obscured, emphasizing the importance of their six-hour debate session in Parliament.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Danupon Punnakan, a party-list MP and spokesperson for the Pheu Thai Party, detailed the party’s strategy for the upcoming government debate during the policy statement to Parliament. He highlighted that the Pheu Thai Party, acting as an independent opposition, plans to scrutinize the new government, which is expected to be in power for only four months, under the campaign titled “4 Months to Dissolve Cases and 4 Disasters.”
The Pheu Thai Party has identified four key disasters that it believes are looming due to the current government’s actions. The first disaster is the country’s stagnation, resulting from the rejection of policies designed to reduce living costs and increase income, which were originally formulated by the Pheu Thai government.
The second disaster involves a lack of skilled personnel, as highlighted by the appointment of ministers from the Buriram government’s nominee group. Despite the government’s commitments to uphold the rule of law and combat corruption, the Pheu Thai Party argues that the appointments are based on trust and personal connections rather than merit.
A lack of transparency constitutes the third disaster, according to the Pheu Thai Party. The involvement of ministers with ties to major cases such as the Khao Kradong land encroachment and Senate collusion, linked to the big blue house camp, raises concerns about potential cover-ups and a lack of impartiality in governance.
The fourth disaster, as described by the Pheu Thai Party, is the absence of a democratic future. The party claims that political forces traditionally operating from the shadows are now more visible, threatening the democratic process. It warns that the current political trajectory, driven by the blue government and the orange party, could lead to irreversible consequences.
Mr. Danupon emphasized the Pheu Thai Party’s commitment to providing a comprehensive critique of the government’s actions without supporting them, using their allotted six hours in Parliament to address the potential impacts and disasters stemming from current policies.
