Phumtham Leads Ceremony to Honor Her Majesty Queen Sirikit on National Mother’s Day

Bangkok: “Phumtham” presided over a Buddhist chanting ceremony and alms-giving ceremony to honor Her Majesty the Queen Mother’s birthday on August 12, 2025. Mr. Phumtham Wechayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior, acting as Prime Minister, led the ceremonies at Sanam Luang to commemorate the auspicious occasion.

According to Thai News Agency, the ceremony was attended by a distinguished gathering including the President of the Privy Council and his wife, the President of the National Assembly, the President of the Supreme Court, presidents of constitutional organizations, royal private agencies, and members of the Cabinet along with their spouses. High-ranking military and police officials, permanent secretaries of all ministries, and private sector representatives were also present.

The ceremony commenced with Mr. Phumtham lighting incense and candles to worship the Triple Gem. This was followed by paying respects and presenting offerings in front of the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirik
it, the Queen Mother. Officials then invited the precepts, and 10 Somdej Phra Rajakhana and Phra Rajakhana monks gave the precepts, chanting Buddhist prayers.

Subsequently, key figures, including the President of the Privy Council and the Acting Prime Minister, presented offerings to 10 monks. The offerings included 10 sets of robes, and rituals such as pouring water to receive blessings, paying respects to the Triple Gem, and honoring the portrait of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit followed. The ceremony concluded with the participants giving alms to 194 monks.

Later in the day, at 5:30 p.m., a ceremony to offer royal tributes and lay wreaths was scheduled to take place. At 7:19 p.m., a candle lighting ceremony was planned to offer auspicious blessings in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit the Queen Mother’s birthday.
