Phumtham Unfazed by Cambodia’s Diplomatic Moves at Thai Border

Bangkok: “Bhumtham” remains unworried about Cambodia seizing advantage by bringing foreign diplomats to the border area before Thailand. He has instructed the National Police Chief to expedite the collection of evidence of damage, refusing to be concerned about false news being spread, and insisting that everything is true.

According to Thai News Agency, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior, acting Prime Minister Phumtham Wechayachai, addressed the Royal Thai Army’s plans to send military attaches from various nations to the Thai-Cambodian border to assess the damage caused by recent clashes. He stated that Cambodia had already sent military attaches and foreign media to the area. He added that it didn’t matter who arrived first or later, but he had already spoken to the National Police Chief to have officers gather all evidence quickly before citizens could return home.

Regarding concerns among Ubon Ratchathani residents about Cambodia’s attempt to point out the area around Chong An Ma, leading foreigners to believe it’s Cambodian territory, Mr. Phumtham said there’s no need to be alarmed. He said it’s not a matter of simply claiming something impossible. He also cautioned against the constant spread of false news, saying everything must be based on the truth.
