Trat: Phumtham Vejjayachai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior acting as Prime Minister, visited Trat Province to address the Thai-Cambodian border situation and provide support to residents at the evacuation center following clashes that occurred yesterday.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Phumtham arrived at Trat Provincial Hall at 10:00 a.m. to attend a briefing on the border situation. He was joined by Mr. Nattapong Songwan, Governor of Trat Province, Pol. Lt. Gen. Yingyot Thepchamnong, Commander of Provincial Police Region 2, and Lieutenant Commander Pharisorn Wongphensri, Commander of the Trat Narikayothin Special Task Force, representing the military.
Following the meeting, Mr. Phumtham planned to travel to the evacuation center where he aimed to motivate residents, distribute necessary supplies, and share a meal with them.
Earlier, the public relations office of Bor Rai District issued a statement on their Facebook page, urging residents to avoid returning to the affected area until it is deemed safe. The post also assured the presence of village headmen to secure residents’ properties and advised the public to stay informed and adhere to government directives. The message concluded with support for the officers working in high-risk areas.
