Chonburi: A young man driving a pickup truck crashed into 12 electric poles, blocking the road. The incident occurred on the Bueng-Bo Win Road in Sri Racha District, Chonburi Province, resulting in the collapse of 12 power poles and causing significant disruption. The accident led to a power outage and the complete closure of the road, with traffic expected to resume by the following day.
According to Thai News Agency, the crash involved both high-voltage and tall poles, spanning a distance of 500 meters. The driver, identified as 41-year-old Sitthiphong, fortunately sustained only minor injuries. Despite the severity of the damage, authorities anticipate that normal traffic operations will resume the next day.
Investigations suggest that Mr. Sitthiphong, who had just finished work, may have fallen asleep at the wheel while driving at high speed. This lapse in attention likely caused the vehicle to veer into the opposite lane and collide with the power poles. The full extent of the damage from the collision is still under assessment.
