According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister gave an interview about the opposition’s view that the budget allocation is not in line with the current economic situation. He stated that this budget is designed to stimulate the economy, both public and private, and foster economic growth. The budgets have been reviewed by many agencies, and objections, such as the digital wallet project, have been considered. The Prime Minister believes the allocation will contribute to economic growth and is confident it is on target.
Regarding confidence in the 2016 budget amidst the US tax problem, the Prime Minister confirmed that it will meet its goals. The budget was allocated before the US tax issue arose, and adjustments have been made after considering opinions from various sectors. He assured that the budget will address the economic problem and promote growth in both public and private sectors.
In response to former Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra’s proposal to reallocate 157 billion baht from the digital wallet project to address the drug problem, the Prime Minister mentioned that drug suppression is already included as a national priority in the budget. When questioned about the opposition’s view that the central budget should be used for the drug issue instead, the Prime Minister emphasized that the budget has been allocated, and urgent needs would be addressed using the central budget. He mentioned that any urgent matters would be reviewed for potential use of the central budget, while the annual budget covers all necessary areas.
Regarding Mr. Thaksin’s offer to personally address the drug problem, the Prime Minister welcomed all assistance and expressed openness to cooperation.
