Bangkok: The Prime Minister revealed that he has already notified Thai workers in Israel, confirming that the government is ready to evacuate them – setting up a help center as a central place to receive information.
According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, Prime Minister, provided an update on the preparation for the evacuation of Thai workers in Tehran amid the ongoing situation between Israel and Iran. She stated that the army, the Ministry of Labor, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs are fully prepared to evacuate Thai citizens. A centralized help center has been established to assist workers and gather information regarding the unrest in Israel. The army is on standby for evacuation efforts, and registration records indicate there are 40,000 Thai workers in the region, with coordination efforts underway across various channels.
The Air Force has also prepped aircraft for the evacuation of Thais in Israel, ensuring that all government measures are thoroughly prepared for any potential action.
In response to inquiries about the timing of the evacuation and the stage at which Thai citizens will be ordered to leave, the Prime Minister noted that countries like the United States and China have already initiated evacuations. The readiness of Thai workers is currently being assessed, with all necessary equipment in place. Coordination with work sites is ongoing, and once readiness is confirmed, evacuation can proceed immediately.
When asked about communication with Thai workers in Israel, the Prime Minister confirmed that notifications have been sent, and further coordination with the Royal Thai Embassy is necessary.
