Bangkok: Pol. Lt. Gen. Trirong Phiwpaen, Commander of the Technology Crime Suppression Division (TCSD), clarified that there is no agenda to dismantle the Kok An network, despite evidence linking the owner to a 25-storey building in Poipet. The investigation has yet to uncover any connection to “Churi,” the daughter of a luxury house owner in Suan Luang. No photographic evidence with Thai-Cambodian politicians has been reported. The investigation is set to expand with the use of Thai national ID cards.
According to Thai News Agency, Pol. Lt. Gen. Trirong announced progress following a morning operation that targeted 19 locations in Bangkok, Samut Prakan, and Chonburi, as part of efforts to close down mule account operations and pursue Cambodian financiers.
Pol. Lt. Gen. Trairong explained that the operation was aimed at tracking down cybercrime suspects, including Mr. Kok An, who is allegedly part of a transnational crime organization. The arrest warrant for Mr. Kok An was issued based on expanded investigations from various cybercrime cases, including a casino scam resulting in over 300 million baht in losses, a case involving a fraud in Charlotte, and a recent scam involving a doctor in Chiang Rai Province who lost over 30 million baht. The suspect confessed to being involved in operations across several buildings in Poipet, leading to the collection of substantial evidence and the issuance of the arrest warrant.
The operation involved searching 19 locations across three provinces, revealing connections between the suspects and the owners of the properties. However, details remain undisclosed as some properties were occupied, others were under caretakers, and some were vacant. In Suan Luang, only a caretaker was found at a residence linked to Ms. Juri, suspected to be Mr. Kok An’s daughter, though population records do not confirm familial ties. Initial searches yielded no significant photographs with notable individuals from Thailand, China, or Cambodia, only family photos. Rumors suggest Mr. Kok An had resided at the house.
The investigation also discovered that Ms. Juri holds a Thai national ID card, prompting further checks to verify its authenticity. Evidence collection continues at other locations, with no charges filed as yet, and authorities request more time for investigation. All 19 searched locations are confirmed to be connected to the suspect.
The operation does not aim to issue an arrest warrant against individuals close to neighboring national leaders but is part of ongoing efforts to address the call center gang issue, a significant crime affecting Thailand, and to hold those aiding and abetting such operations accountable.
