Chief of the National Police General Listyo Sigit Prabowo has confirmed the involvement of a police inspector general, identified by his initials as TM, in a drug trafficking case investigated by the Jakarta Metropolitan Police.
“Yesterday, (I) ordered the chief of the Profession and Security Division to investigate Inspector General TM,” he said at the National Police Headquarters on Friday evening.
TM was found to be involved in a drug network during an investigation by the Jakarta Metropolitan Police into a drug case, he added.
The police conducted the investigation after receiving a tip from the public. As part of the investigation, the police arrested three civilians.
Based on the investigation of the three civilians, police determined the involvement of police officers with the ranks of chief brigadier and commissioner in the case.
“Based on that, we wanted it (the investigation) to be developed. (During the investigation,) the police found the involvement of a trafficker who was a police officer with the rank of adjunct senior commissioner. He was the former chief of Bukit Tinggi district police,” Prabowo informed.
During the investigation, the police found that Inspector General TM was also involved in the drug network.
“At this moment, Inspector General TM is suspected of violating (the code of ethics) and has been detained in a special place,” he informed.
Prabowo said that he has ordered the Profession and Security Division to prepare a code of ethics trial for Inspector General TM and asked the chief of the Jakarta Metropolitan Police, Inspector General Fadli Imran, to handle the case.
