Krabi: A drug trafficking gang was apprehended while transporting 300,000 methamphetamine pills on a tour bus traveling from Chiang Mai to Phuket, with a stop in Krabi to deliver the drugs to an agent in Surat Thani. The police successfully arrested both the sender and the receiver in this operation.
According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Angkoon Silathewakul, Governor of Krabi Province, alongside Pol. Maj. Gen. Pornchai Khajornklin, Deputy Commander of Provincial Police Region 8 and Acting Commander of Krabi Provincial Police, announced the arrest of three suspects. The individuals, identified as Mr. Samphan, aged 54, Mr. Surapol, aged 30, and Ms. Sunaree, aged 27, were found in possession of 300,000 methamphetamine pills. Authorities also seized a sedan and pressed charges against the suspects for jointly distributing Category 1 narcotics with the intent to sell and spread them among the public.
The arrest followed a tip-off received by officers regarding the delivery of methamphetamine pills at the Khao Tor intersection in Plai Phraya District, Krabi Province. A Chiang Mai-Phuket tour bus stopped at the scene, and Mr. Surapol and Ms. Sunaree disembarked to retrieve two cloth sacks from the bus’s storage compartment. Mr. Samphan, waiting in a car nearby, assisted in lifting the sacks. At this moment, the officers revealed themselves and detained all three suspects, discovering 300,000 methamphetamine pills inside the sacks.
Initially, Mr. Surapol and Ms. Sunaree confessed to being hired to transport the methamphetamine pills for a payment of 300,000 baht, though they claimed ignorance regarding the identity of the person who ordered the delivery.
