Pontianak: Indonesian Soldiers Intercept 10 kg Crystal Meth at Malaysia-Indonesia Border

Pontianak, W Kalimantan (ANTARA) – In a significant drug bust, Indonesian soldiers from the Brajamusti Field Artillery 10 Task Force successfully intercepted a smuggling attempt of 10 kg of crystal methamphetamine at the Malaysia-Indonesia border in West Kalimantan Province. The operation took place on Sunday, leading to the arrest of the suspect while attempting to smuggle the drugs into Enteli Village, Ketungau Hulu Sub-district, Sintang District.

According to Antara News Agency, the spokesperson of the XII Tanjungpura Regional Military Command, the suspect, identified as RD, is an Indonesian national from Bima District in West Nusa Tenggara Province. RD, who worked in a palm oil plantation in Malaysia, was lured into smuggling the crystal meth into Indonesia, promised substantial payment by a drug lord.

The border task force personnel apprehended RD during their routine patrol along an “informal” route in Enteli Village at around 4:15 a.m. local time on Sunday. They found RD in possession of the drug package, which contained 10 tea bags, each filled with 1 kg of crystal meth. The intended handover of the narcotics was planned for a contact person in the Balai Karangan neighborhood area.

The seized drugs, totaling 10 kg, were taken to the headquarters of the XII Tanjungpura Regional Military Command for security and will subsequently be handed over to the local police for further investigation. This successful operation marks a critical achievement in the ongoing battle against drug trafficking in the region.
