Surin: The Royal Thai Army is currently investigating an incident at Prasat Ta Muen Thom after reports surfaced of nearly a hundred Cambodian soldiers crossing into Thai territory. The Commander of Army Area 2 has assured the public that the situation remains stable and there is no cause for alarm.
According to Thai News Agency, Lt. Gen. Winthai Suwaree, the Army spokesman, is examining the details of the disorder at Prasat Ta Muen Thom, located in Tambon Ta Miang, Amphoe Phanom Dong Rak, Surin Province. The incident was triggered by a Cambodian woman who accused Thai soldiers of crossing into Cambodian territory, leading to a loud dispute that required intervention from both Thai and Cambodian forces present at the site.
The confrontation escalated, resulting in approximately a hundred Cambodian soldiers moving into the Thai area near the stairs leading up to Prasat Ta Muen Thom. Thai soldiers also entered the vicinity, resulting in a tense situation characterized by pushing and shouting.
Lt. Gen. Boonsin Phadklang, Commander of the 2nd Army, later clarified that the incident at the Ta Muen Thom temple was under control and no significant developments had occurred. He urged the public to remain calm and not to be concerned over the incident.
