Chiang mai: Arrest warrants and additional charges are being issued for the Chinese gang that lured Chinese people to Chiang Mai for ransom before killing them and dumping their bodies in the Mae Rim forest. Meanwhile, the Commander of Provincial Police Region 5 has ordered an urgent investigation into the Chinese gang that has been hiding in Chiang Mai using student visas.
According to Thai News Agency, police are still investigating Mr. Hugang, a Chinese friend of the deceased Mr. Yang, who was the one who invited him to travel from Kings Romans in Laos, opposite Chiang Rai Province, to negotiate a grey business with two Chinese gangs, Mr. Wang Chong and Mr. Zhang Benxin, before Mr. Yang was held for ransom and killed in a rented house in Hang Dong District 5 days ago. His body was then dumped in the Mae Rim forest, where officers found the body yesterday. It is believed that Mr. Hugang may have been involved in this operation.
Pol. Col. Worapong Kamlue, Commander of Investigation Division of Provincial Police Region 5, revealed that evidence is currently being collected to submit to the court to issue arrest warrants for those involved. They are charged with extortion, murder, and hiding a body. Mr. Hu Kang, who invited Mr. Yang, the deceased, was previously charged with being an alien entering and staying in the Kingdom without permission and claiming to be a victim of ransom. The investigation found that Mr. Hu Kang was the one who called the deceased’s sister to demand ransom. In addition, Mr. Zhang Benxin, one of the Chinese gang members and the owner of the rental house who was arrested, will be charged with additional charges. Another suspect, Mr. Wang Shuang, who was implicated as the person who used a hammer to hit Mr. Yang on the head, has already fled through a natural channel to Cambodia.
Previously, Pol. Lt. Gen. Kritthapol Yisakhon, Commander of Provincial Police Region 5, confirmed that both the suspects and the victims were involved in gray businesses, especially the smuggling of people across the border and the call center gangs that were active along the borders of Laos, Myanmar, and Cambodia. It was found that some of them used student visas to enter Chiang Mai. Therefore, he ordered an urgent investigation of the group of Chinese people who used this visa group and to separate the gray Chinese or groups that broke the law and to prosecute them decisively.
