Hanoi, November 23 – President Vo Van Thuong assured full support to Laos, including its upcoming 2024 ASEAN chairmanship, during a reception for the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Laos, Saleumxay Kommasith, on November 22. Kommasith is in Vietnam to co-chair the 10th Vietnam-Laos foreign ministerial-level consultation.

According to Vietnam News Agency, President Thuong applauded the success of the foreign ministerial-level consultation, recognizing its significant contribution to the strong friendship and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos. Saleumxay Kommasith expressed his gratitude for the consistent support provided by Vietnam to Laos. Both officials acknowledged the recent achievements in bilateral cooperation, emphasizing the importance of continued close coordination and high-level exchanges.

They agreed that the unique and profound friendship and cooperation between Vietnam and Laos should be nurtured and passed on to younger generations. President Thuong also thanked Kommasith for facilitating a favorable environment for the Vietnamese community in Laos. Given the complex global and regional situation, both parties concurred on the necessity of enhanced information exchange and close collaboration at regional and international forums.
