Prime Minister and Spouse Pay Homage to Supreme Patriarch on Birthday

Bangkok: The Prime Minister and her spouse paid homage to Somdech Phra Ariyawongsakattaya, the Supreme Patriarch of Thailand, in honor of his birthday on June 26, 2025.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, and Mr. Pitak Suksawat, her spouse, visited Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Maha Simaram where they laid a wreath at the royal monument of King Chulalongkorn beside the ordination hall. Following this, they proceeded to the Samrit Witthayakorn Building to pay respects to Somdej Phra Mahawirawong, who serves as the Secretary to the Supreme Patriarch, a member of the Sangha Supreme Council, and the assistant abbot of Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Maha Simaram Ratchaworawihan.

The Prime Minister and her spouse offered a tray of incense sticks and candles, a lotus flower tray, a monk’s robe, and Thai offerings to His Holiness Somdech Phra Ariyawongsakattaya at Arun Palace, Wat Ratchabophit Sathit Maha Simaram. On this occasion, the Supreme Patriarch sprinkled holy water on the Prime Minister for good fortune, after which she proceeded to the Government House to preside over the Cabinet meeting.
