Kuala lumpur: The Prime Minister of Thailand, Anutin Charnvirakul, has arrived in Malaysia to engage in discussions with US President Donald J. Trump ahead of the anticipated signing of the Thailand-Cambodia peace agreement scheduled for tomorrow. The Prime Minister, accompanied by General Nattapol Nakphanit, Minister of Defense, and Ms. Traisulee Traisaranakul, Secretary-General to the Prime Minister, landed at Subang Military Airport in Malaysia.
According to Thai News Agency, the Thai delegation was received by Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled Nordin, Malaysia’s Minister of Defence, who represented the Malaysian government in extending a warm welcome. The visit marks a significant step towards regional cooperation and peace ahead of the upcoming ASEAN Summit.
Tomorrow, Prime Minister Anutin will participate in the opening ceremony of the 47th ASEAN Summit and related events. A key highlight of the summit will be the signing ceremony to officially admit Timor-Leste into ASEAN, reflecting the organization’s expansion and commitment to regional inclusivity.
During his visit, the Prime Minister is scheduled to meet with President Trump to discuss enhancing cooperation in areas such as economics, security, and sustainable development across the region. The discussions are expected to pave the way for the co-signing of the Thailand-Cambodia Peace Accord. The signing, set to take place at noon local time in Kuala Lumpur, will be witnessed by both the Malaysian Prime Minister and President Trump, underscoring the international support for the peace initiative.
