Prime Minister Anutin to Attend ASEAN Summit and Sign Peace Accord in Malaysia

Kuala lumpur: Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul will fly to Malaysia this evening to participate in the opening ceremony of the 47th ASEAN Summit and Related Summits, marking his first multilateral meeting since assuming office.

According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister will also be involved in the formal signing ceremony to admit Timor-Leste as the 11th member state of ASEAN. Additionally, Anutin is set to sign a peace agreement between Thailand and Cambodia. The signing is scheduled for 12:00 noon local time in Malaysia, with the event being witnessed by Donald J. Trump, President of the United States, and Dato’ Seri Anwar Ibrahim, Prime Minister of Malaysia, who serves as the ASEAN Chair.

During his visit, Anutin is expected to hold discussions with President Trump, who will express his condolences on the passing of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit, the Queen Mother. Following the completion of his official engagements, the Prime Minister will return to Thailand.

For the 47th ASEAN Summit and related summits, Anutin has designated Mr. Sihasak Phuangketkaew, Minister of Foreign Affairs, to represent Thailand.
