Bangkok: Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul plans to meet with Donald Trump to strengthen cooperation on economic, security, and sustainable development issues in the region before attending the peace signing ceremony tomorrow. Prime Minister’s Office Spokesperson Siripong Angkasakulkiat revealed that at 6:30 PM today, Prime Minister and Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul and his delegation departed from Military Airport 2, Wing 6 (Wing 6), Don Mueang, Bangkok, for Subang Air Base, Malaysia, to attend the 47th ASEAN Summit and related summits.
According to Thai News Agency, the Prime Minister and his delegation will arrive at Subang Air Base, Malaysia, at 9:30 p.m. (local time in Kuala Lumpur, which is one hour ahead of Thailand), where they will be warmly welcomed by Dato’ Seri Mohamed Khaled bin Nordin, Minister of Defence of Malaysia, representing the Malaysian government.
For tomorrow’s mission, the Prime Minister will attend the opening ceremony of the 47th ASEAN Summit and related summits, including the ASEAN Prize presentation ceremony and the signing ceremony of the document officially admitting Timor-Leste into ASEAN. He will take this opportunity to offer congratulations and emphasize Thailand’s role, together with ASEAN member states, in advancing ASEAN’s unity, stability, and comprehensive cooperation, aiming to advance the region towards peace and sustainable development.
The Prime Minister is also scheduled to meet with the Honorable Donald J. Trump, President of the United States, to strengthen cooperation on economic, security, and sustainable development issues in the region before attending the signing ceremony of the “Joint Declaration between the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Thailand and the Prime Minister of the Kingdom of Cambodia on the Outcomes of Their Meeting in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.” The signing will be witnessed by the Malaysian Prime Minister and the President of the United States. A press conference will follow the ceremony.
After completing the mission, the Prime Minister and his delegation will depart for Thailand on the same day.
