Bangkok: The Prime Minister is set to sign the Thai-Cambodian peace agreement following the United States’ agreement to the deadline. The Prime Minister, accompanied by Minister of Interior Anutin Charnvirakul, will travel to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, tonight in anticipation of the signing, which is expected to take place tomorrow morning.
According to Thai News Agency, coordination for the signing has been completed, with requests for a postponement until the morning communicated and agreed upon by all involved parties. The Prime Minister also addressed the upcoming APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting in South Korea, noting that he had sought a cabinet resolution to address the meeting in advance. If unable to attend, Minister of Foreign Affairs Sihasak Phuangketkaew has been designated as his representative.
The Prime Minister expressed his intent to engage in discussions with several international leaders on significant matters, including taxes, trade, and international agreements. He highlighted the importance of efficient time management due to the concurrent responsibilities associated with ASEAN and APEC meetings.
In addition, the Prime Minister indicated that ASEAN and APEC will host leaders from outside their groups, with Thailand having received numerous bilateral requests aimed at enhancing cooperation in areas such as economics, security, and trade. The Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Transport, Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, will remain ready to fulfill duties should international travel be required, with the Prime Minister maintaining oversight of the situation.
