According to Thai News Agency, last evening’s preparatory meeting involved a committee led by Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, Commissioner General of the Royal Thai Police. This committee is tasked with assessing qualifications and suitability for the appointments. The meeting, initially set for 1:00 p.m., was postponed to 7:00 p.m. to allow thorough examination under the National Police Act 2022. The act stipulates that appointments for Deputy Commissioner-General and Assistant Commissioner-General positions are based entirely on seniority, while Commander positions are evaluated on a 50-50 ba

The vacant positions include four Deputy Commissioner-General posts, seven Assistant Commissioner-General posts, and 14 Commander posts. The list of candidates for the Deputy Commissioner-General roles includes Pol. Lt. Gen. Prachuap Wongsuk, Pol. Lt. Gen. Nirandorn Leumsri, Pol. Lt. Gen. Krachai Klaiklueng, and Pol. Lt. Gen. Thatchai Pitaneelabut, with selections based on seniority.
For the Assistant Commissioner-General positions, the candidates include Pol. Lt. Gen. Thanapol Srisopa, Chief Inspector General of Police, and Pol. Lt. Gen. Thiti Sangsawang, Commissioner of the Metropolitan Police Bureau, among others. Their appointments will also follow the order of seniority. These crucial decisions will shape the future leadership of the Royal Thai Police and impact law enforcement across the nation.
