Prime Minister to Implement Solar Cells to Reduce Electricity Costs

Kanchanaburi: The Prime Minister has announced plans to address the rising electricity costs by utilizing solar cells, aiming to provide relief to the citizens. During a visit to Kanchanaburi, the Prime Minister expressed joy over the warm reception from the local people who came to show their support.

According to Thai News Agency, Ms. Paethongtarn Shinawatra, the Prime Minister, along with her team, visited a large-scale groundwater supply project under the royal initiative in Ban Nong Bua Hing, Tambon Sara Long Ruea, Amphoe Huai Krachao. The visit was part of an effort to understand and address the drought and groundwater supply issues in the area. The project officers highlighted the challenges, particularly the high electricity costs associated with the project’s implementation.

During her visit, the Prime Minister interacted with the local community, receiving encouragement from Village Health Volunteers who expressed their support with signs praising her leadership. Ms. Paethongtarn emphasized the importance of water in daily life and acknowledged the significant role of private sector contributions in managing water resources for the community’s benefit.

Ms. Paethongtarn addressed the crucial issue of rising electricity bills during her speech. She highlighted the government’s commitment to utilizing solar cells as a solution, approving a budget for the Ministry of Natural Resources. The initiative aims to distribute solar cells to communities, helping to alleviate the financial burden of electricity costs for the people.

The Prime Minister affirmed the government’s dedication to addressing the essential needs of the citizens, stating that the visit was intended to reassure the people of the government’s efforts to effectively resolve their issues. She expressed gratitude for the warm welcome and indicated her desire to return for future engagements.

Following her visit to Kanchanaburi, Ms. Paethongtarn returned to Nonthaburi Province to inaugurate the OTOP MIDYEAR 2025 event. The event, themed ’77 Provinces, 77 Stories, 77 Inspirations,’ is scheduled to take place from June 7-15, 2025, at Impact Muang Thong Thani.
