Private Sector Awaits US Tariff Announcement for Thai Imports

Bangkok: The Thai Chamber of Commerce revealed that the negotiating team has reached an agreement with the USTR. They are awaiting the announcement of US import tariffs tonight, which they believe will be similar to those in other countries in the region.

According to Thai News Agency, Mr. Poj Aramwattananon, Chairman of the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand, confirmed that Team Thailand has negotiated with the United States Trade Representative (USTR) regarding trade balance adjustments and has reached a mutual agreement.

It is expected that tonight (morning US time) the US will announce the tariff rates for Thai imports. The private sector estimates that these tariffs will be similar to those of regional competitors.

Mr. Poj added that the Thai private sector has been closely involved in providing input to the Thai negotiating team's decision-making process, and that Thailand's final proposal was satisfactory to both parties. The negotiating team prioritized the country's interests.
