The Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry has sought an additional budget of around Rp1.16 trillion for the 2022 fiscal year from the House of Representatives for organizing various international events.

Director General of Human Settlements at the ministry, Diana Kusumastuti, informed that the additional budget is required to expedite the development of supporting infrastructure for the 2022 G20 Summit, 2022 Moto Grand Prix of Indonesia, and 2023 ASEAN Summit.

“We need an additional Rp112.1 billion for the preparation of the 2022 G20 Summit,” she said at a hearing meeting with Commission V of the House here on Wednesday.

The preparations for the 2022 G20 Summit will include the revitalization of the Ngurah Rai Mangrove Area in Bali province, she added.

“In addition, an additional Rp947.8 billion is required for the renovation of Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII),” she informed.

A number of infrastructures will be renovated at TMII, including the main gate, Central Java Pavilion, Lake of Archipelago, Garuda Theater Museum, Keong Mas Museum, and Community Center, as well as supporting facilities, such as the parking area, sidewalk, and amphitheater, Kusumastuti said.

Furthermore, the ministry needs an additional Rp94.55 billion for the development of Mandalika Area, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province to support the implementation of the MotoGP.

“Meanwhile, the preparations for the 2023 ASEAN Summit in Tana Mori area, Labuan Bajo village, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) province will require Rp7 billion,” the director general added.

The preparations for the ASEAN Summit in Labuan Bajo are aimed at improving the supporting tourism infrastructure in Loh Buaya Area, Rinca Island, NTT province, she said.

Earlier, the government had issued Presidential Decree Number 116/2021, tasking the ministry with accelerating infrastructure development for the implementation of international events in Bali, Jakarta, NTB, and NTT provinces, with an initial planned budget of Rp2.7 trillion.
