The Public Works and Public Housing (PUPR) Ministry will renovate homes located around the Mandalika Circuit under the housing renovation assistance program (BSPS) and the housing beautification program ahead of the 2022 MotoGP.
“The ministry will fully support the implementation of the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP,” director general of housing at the ministry, Iwan Suprijanto, informed in a press release issued here on Tuesday.
All the directorate generals at the ministry will work together to ensure the programs run well, he said.
He further said he has asked the director of self-reliant houses of Mandalika, Central Lombok district, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) province to directly review the sites and prepare the programs’ implementation.
Considering that the Mandalika MotoGP will be held in March 2022, the programs must be expedited, he added.
“We will ensure that infrastructure and housing development can be started immediately,” the director general said.
All service providers have been on the field and worked to complete the construction, he added.
The directorate general will need to renovate around 196 houses, he informed. At least 107 units are built on people’s own land, while the rest are on land belonging to state-owned Indonesia Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC), he said.
Suprijanto has also held a meeting on the management of the Mandalika area to support the implementation of MotoGP at the ministry’s headquarters.
It was attended by the field coordinator for the Preparation of the 2022 Mandalika MotoGP, Air Marshal (Ret.) Hadi Tjahjanto, and several representatives from other directorate generals of the ministry.
There will be thousands of spectators from several countries who will come to watch the international motor racing event, the field coordinator noted.
Hence, the beautiful sites around the MotoGP circuit must be managed to maintain the comfort of the visitors, whilst the corridor area arrangement needs to be made more organized, he added.
