Quang binh: Communes in the central coastal province of Quang Binh have been requested to organise forces, allocate personnel, and provide equipment to monitor the handling of seafood at registered points, as part of the local efforts to help lift the European Commission (EC)’s ‘yellow card’ warning on illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing.
According to Vietnam News Agency, these measures are part of a broader strategy to ensure compliance with international regulations on fishing activities. The implementation of these monitoring systems is aimed at enhancing transparency and accountability in seafood handling processes. Quang Binh authorities are focusing on strengthening the infrastructure and logistics required to support these initiatives effectively.
The move comes as the EC’s ‘yellow card’ warning has put pressure on local fisheries to improve their practices and align with sustainable fishing standards. The warning serves as a reminder of the need for stringent regulatory mechanisms to c
ombat IUU fishing, which poses a significant threat to marine ecosystems. By adhering to these regulations, Quang Binh aims to protect its marine resources and secure its fisheries’ future.
