Bangkok: Heavy rains are expected to hit Bangkok this evening, with the highest rainfall reaching 107 mm in Phra Nakhon District. Keep an eye on the next downpour, as it moves towards Bangkok if it doesn’t weaken. Mr. Chadchart Sittipunt, Governor of Bangkok, monitored the rain situation in Bangkok, with the Drainage and Sewerage Office providing information at the Flood Prevention System Control Center, Drainage and Sewerage Office, Bangkok 2, Din Daeng.
According to Thai News Agency, Governor Chadchart stated that today’s heavy rainfall is no less than yesterday’s, due to the low-pressure trough across Thailand pulling in rain clouds. At 5:10 PM, rain continues to fall in the inner areas along the Chao Phraya River and is moving northeastward. In addition, another storm cloud is moving in. If it doesn’t weaken, it is expected to hit Bangkok again.
The report found that the highest accumulated rainfall in the past six hours was 107 millimeters in Phra Nakhon District, followed by 98.5 millimeters in Watthana and Huai Khwang Districts, which exceeds the capacity of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration’s drainage system, which is designed to handle 60 millimeters of rainfall.
