Regsosek main capital for government to reach all people: Ministry

The Ministry of National Planning and Development stated that data collection under the Social Economic Registration (Regsosek) Program will become the main capital for the central and regional governments to reach all Indonesians.

During the Regsosek Talk: Young Generation Builds the Nation followed online on Monday, the ministry’s Poverty Handling and Community Empowerment Director Maliki explained that Regsosek presented as a population database and system that covered profiles, social and economic conditions, and welfare levels of the community.

Thus, the data-collection program is expected to make national development more focused on the needs of the community, so that the quality of state spending will improve.

“This is very useful in preventing budget inefficiency due to the lack of quality data,” he remarked.

On the occasion, he expressed hope that the Regsosek program would stimulate the younger generation’s critical thinking as part of the efforts to push and raise awareness of the community to make positive changes.

In addition, the program can help the younger generation in identifying communities or groups that need support and changes.

“This is the role of Regsosek as a support, catalyst, and enabler for all, including the government and the younger generation, in realizing the goal of becoming a prosperous, fair, and noble nation,” he stated.

He noted that youngsters constituted 50 percent of the members of the productive generation. Thus, their innovations are expected to continually contribute to economic transformation, including poverty elimination, inequality reduction, and the development of human resources.

“As a generation that is familiar with the internet and social media, clarity on the use of big data is crucial. Big data has an essential role in strategic policy-making in various fields,” he explained.

Apart from the younger generation, he also encouraged all parties to support the Regsosek program, starting from data collection, processing, utilization, and long-term utilization of the data obtained to realize quality national development.
