Report Filed Against ‘Monica’ for Insulting Soldiers, Coordination with Ministry of Foreign Affairs Initiated for Questioning

Surin: Phanom Dong Rak Police Station has received a complaint against an individual identified as “Monica” under Section 116 for allegedly insulting a soldier at Prasat Ta Muen Thom. The police are coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs to summon her for questioning.

According to Thai News Agency, the incident involved a Cambodian female tourist who disrupted the area in Muang Thom, Surin Province by pointing at and verbally abusing Thai soldiers during their duty on July 15th. Following social media reports identifying the woman as Norodom Pan Monica, the Phanom Dong Rak Police Station in Surin Province was prompted to take legal action based on complaints from military personnel and civilians. The accusations include causing disturbance, insulting an officer on duty, and inciting entry into a computer system.

The case has garnered significant public interest and discussion. Police officers have informed the Surin Provincial Commander, who has subsequently appointed a working group to investigate and pursue legal proceedings. The Surin Provincial Police Commander has also appointed police investigators to gather evidence, interview witnesses, and review social media clips related to the incident. A letter has been drafted to summon Monica for a statement at Phanom Dong Rak Police Station, with coordination efforts through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
