Royal Ceremony Conducted for Bathing the Body of Gen. Suchinda with Holy Water

Bangkok: Gen. Paiboon Khumchaya, Privy Councilor, presided over the royal ceremony to bestow holy water on the body of General Suchinda Kraprayoon, a former Prime Minister and Vice Chairman of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO). The ceremony took place at Wat Sommanas Ratchaworawihan, Hall 5.

According to Thai News Agency, the event was attended by fellow students from Class 5 of the Chulachomklao Royal Military Academy and officers with the code number 0143, who had experienced the 1991 coup d’©tat. Notable attendees included Lt. Gen. Lert Phuengpak, Gen. Chamlang Uchukomol, Gen. Khachon Ramanwong, Admiral Boonplod Mamuangkaew, Gen. Wiroj Saengsanit, and Pol. Gen. Wiroj Paowin. Several former military officers and those currently serving in civil service also participated in the ceremony.

Among other attendees were Mr. Anand Panyarachun and Mr. Abhisit Vejjajiva, both former Prime Ministers, as well as Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior. Ms. Nualphan Lamsam, Chairwoman of the Football Association of Thailand under Royal Patronage, was also present, showing the breadth of representation from various sectors of society.
