Royal Thai Army Condemns Cambodian Ceasefire Violations, Reports Clashes in Sisaket Province

Bangkok: The Royal Thai Army has issued a statement condemning Cambodia’s repeated violations of the ceasefire agreement, revealing clashes in three separate locations last night. The statement highlights Thailand’s commitment to principles of restraint, peace, and humanity.

According to Thai News Agency, Major General Winthai Suvari, the Army spokesman, addressed the situation on the Thai-Cambodian border following Cambodia’s breach of the ceasefire agreement. The Cambodian forces reportedly used small arms throughout the night, disrupting the peace along the border. The ceasefire agreement, jointly declared by the governments of Thailand and Cambodia, took effect from midnight on July 28, 2025.

The Royal Thai Army reiterated its adherence to the ceasefire agreement, having suspended all forms of force and reduced military activities to foster peace and constructive cooperation between the two nations. However, reports from local units indicated that the Cambodian Army violated the agreement on July 29-30, 2025.

In the Chong Khan Ma area of Sisaket Province, on July 29, 2025, at 9:30 p.m., the Cambodian army fired small arms into Thai lines, prompting a clash that continued until 10:00 p.m. In the Khao Phra Wihan region, including Phu Makhuea and Huai Ta Maria areas, Cambodian forces began firing small arms and grenade launchers from 10:00 p.m. This persistent aggression required the Thai side to respond in self-defense, with intermittent shooting from the Cambodian side lasting until the morning of July 30, 2025.

At the Pha Mor I Daeng area in Sisaket Province, on July 30, 2025, at 5:17 a.m., a grenade launcher was detected entering Thai territory from the Cambodian side. This marked a serious violation of the ceasefire agreement for the second time since its implementation, undermining efforts to peacefully resolve the situation and affecting bilateral trust and stability.

The Royal Thai Army strongly condemns the Cambodian Army’s actions and emphasizes its commitment to tolerance, peace, and humanity. The Thai side warns that continued violations will lead to decisive and necessary measures to protect national sovereignty and the safety of Thai citizens.
