Royal Thai Army Refutes Cambodian Claims of Military Provocation

Bangkok: The Royal Thai Army has officially refuted allegations made by Cambodia regarding the deployment of Thai troops at Prasat Ta Kwai. In a statement, Army spokesman Major General Winthai Suvari defended the Second Army Region commander’s actions and addressed the Cambodian Ministry of Defense spokesman’s claims that Thailand was planning military aggression to seize Ta Kwai Temple.

According to Thai News Agency, Major General Suvari described the accusations as distorted and untrue. He further accused Cambodia of secretly placing new landmines in areas along the Thai border, which he claimed violated both the principles of war and the Ottawa Convention. Additionally, he addressed the issue of 18 Cambodian prisoners of war who remain in Thai custody, emphasizing that the accusations of provocation do not align with Thailand’s conduct.

The situation has stirred tensions between the neighboring countries, with both sides continuing to exchange accusations. The Royal Thai Army’s statement aims to clarify Thailand’s stance and counter the allegations of military provocation.
