Sa kaeo: The Royal Thai Army has reported ongoing unauthorized entry of Cambodian nationals into Thailand following recent hostilities at the Thai-Cambodian border. In response, authorities have implemented stringent security measures to curb these illegal crossings.
According to Thai News Agency, since the conflict began on July 24, 2015, border security forces have apprehended 158 Cambodian immigrants across several districts in Sa Kaeo Province. Specifically, 112 individuals were arrested in Aranyaprathet District, 26 in Tapraya District, 5 in Watthana Nakhon District, 6 in Khok Sung District, and 9 in Khlong Hat District. The most recent incident occurred on August 13, 2015, when the Aranyaprathet Task Force and the 1204th Ranger Company detained 10 Cambodians in Ban Phan Suek, Aranyaprathet District.
Late on August 12, 2015, the 524th Marine Ranger Company’s 2nd Ranger Control Unit, under the Chanthaburi and Trat Border Defense Command, arrested 46 Cambodians and their Thai guide in Ban Khlong Bon, Chanthaburi Province. Investigations revealed these individuals returned to Cambodia only to face unemployment, prompting their illegal re-entry into Thailand for work opportunities.
The Royal Thai Army has coordinated with related agencies, deploying enhanced patrols and inspection units to maintain order and national security, aiming to protect public safety while addressing the cross-border immigration issue.
